Discord Help

Hi Everyone!

Alith has launched our very own Discord server

We've included a couple of video guides for setting up and joining Discord servers in the briefing, but we know that many of you may still have questions if you're new to Discord. We've created this thread for everyone to be able to ask your questions and get any general advice for using Discord. Anything goes!

We have many members in Alith who are experienced with Discord, as well as our officer team, who are happy to help. So don't be shy, ask your questions, share your experiences, and have fun socialising with your fellow Alithians!

I already have a discord account where I call myself Triton and I am now with that user invited to the Alith server. Is it possible to set an alias "Oldhin" in order to keep my old discord log-in?

Never Mind, I found in like 5 sec after posting

. Just right click myself in member listing and there is an option to set a Nick. Checked my other servers and there I kept my other name so it worked just fine and you will all know that its me on the Alith server

I joined Discord and found myself in the member group. But it did not hear anybody there. Is there already a voice chat?

reedit 7.1.: There are only #textchannels on the Alith server. Could you please open a voice channel for testing?

Hey Ariasel, We do not utilize the voice option at the moment.
There is a topic going about switching to discord or keeping our TS.
When the officers decide a switch is in option then they will arrange a proper test of discord.

I know it's a topic that's high on the debate list, so hang in there and I'm sure we'll hear soon.

I've accessed the link but there only seems to be voice chat options. Are you not utilising text channels anymore? I currently don't have the voice chat setup but want to participate in guild chats

You still needed to have a role assigned to you

I have done that now so when you next come on discord you'll see the text channels - there were 2 accounts for you in our discord, 'coolfrood' and 'coolfrood88' - I checked your website account and 'coolfrood' is the one you have listed, so that is the one I activated, and I removed the other. If that is incorrect please send me (bella gloom#0409) a direct message on discord and I will sort you out

Hi this is just a general question if there is a learning raid/trial or something on and you cant make it or its full are you allowed to listen into the chat so can hear the tactics as long as mic is muted? Reckon this would help for the next learning raid

That's absolutely fine, members are welcome to join the voice channels for guild events to listen in even if they're not taking part, whether it's to learn tactics or just to enjoy hearing the raid. The only thing we ask is to please let the raid leader know you're there just to listen in so when they're checking the number of people in discord they know to count one extra than the number in the group.
