Officer Open Door Sessions

Dear Alith Legionnaires,

The officers are delighted to invite you to the very first Officer Open Door Chit-Chat Session! ( www.alithlegion.com/index.php/events/icalrepeat.detail/2018/05/26/2133/-/officer-open-door-session ). These sessions are an opportunity for anyone who would like to meet the officers, chat to us, discuss any guild/game matters you think are relevant, to generally get to know us or catch up and say hi. Of course, we hope these are things you all feel able to do whenever you see us anyway, so this is just an additional opportunity and an open invitation for anyone who is perhaps new to the guild or feels they’d like to get to know us better.

The sessions will be on the guild calendar so you can see when the next one is happening. There’s no need to sign up, just wait until the time of the session and join us in the “Guild Event” channel in discord.

Aside from the new open door sessions, every member is of course welcome to approach or message any one of the officers at any time, by a variety of methods, including:

- In game whisper (check the guild roster and sort by rank to see who’s online and able to receive whispers)
- In game guild chat (ask if there are any officers around and we’ll contact you if we’re free, or sometimes a raid leader, recruitment champion or senior member will be able to help you out if we’re not available/online)
- In game mail (if it’s not an urgent message we’ll pick this up next time we log into the game)
- Discord direct message (this is a good way to contact us if we’re offline, since we’ll pick it up as soon as we’re next available and at our computers, or phones in some cases)
- Discord @officers ping (this is a good way to quickly draw our attention to something happening in one of the discord channels)
- Discord voice- member’s lounge (if you see us hanging out in member’s lounge, come and say hi)
- Discord voice- private channel (if there’s something you’d like to talk about in person rather than typing out, grab us for a private voice chat instead)
- Guild website direct mail (this is another way to contact us while we're offline, particularly if you don't have discord)

The new open door sessions are not a replacement for the above listed methods of contacting us, but instead an additional way to be in touch. They are also designed for anyone who would simply like to chat to the officers, without necessarily any specific concerns.

Why might you want to contact us?
- To say hello! 500 members is a lot to know all at once, but that is our aim nevertheless, so help us out by saying hi from time to time.
- To ask for help. We can assist you with guild website issues, getting set up on discord as well as any general guild questions you may have. The officers are also all experienced ESO players, so feel free to ask us about in-game queries too. If we’re not able to answer your question directly we’ll likely be able to point you towards someone in the guild who is better placed to answer it instead.
- To raise a concern about something happening within the guild. Any concerns are automatically anonymous and we’re aware that sometimes the full story is not visible to any one individual, so our first aim will be to investigate and understand the situation from the perspective of every involved party. Often from doing so we’re able to reveal and explain misunderstandings, providing clarification and resolution for all involved.
- To report a violation of our guild rules . We’re aware not every member has memorised the guild rules, so we’d like to know if they’re being broken so we can gently remind/inform the perpetrator of the rule they’re breaking and make sure they understand why it’s in place. In some cases, particularly where other guild members have been adversely affected, we may issue an official warning to not repeat the behaviour. In extreme situations or cases of repeated violations we may remove the offender from the guild.

Thank you everyone who came along yesterday! It was lovely to see so many of you keen to drop in and ask questions and chat with us. We'll be aiming to run further open door sessions once a month or every two months from now on. If you have any questions or topics for discussion, feel free to bring them along to the next session, or get in touch with one of the officers in the meantime.
